Tom Cruise Kept Hitting The Floor Filming This Iconic Scene Oct 21, 2026

Description

Tom Cruise shared a hilarious story about filming the iconic CIA vault heist in 1996's Mission: Impossible. While suspended on cables above a pressure-sensitive floor, Cruise repeatedly lost his balance and smashed his face against the ground, putting the entire shoot behind schedule. Running out of time, Cruise asked the stunt crew for coins to put in his shoes as counterweights. On what director Brian De Palma warned was their final attempt, Cruise dropped down and hovered perfectly inches off the floor. As Cruise desperately held the pose while drenched in sweat, De Palma kept the camera rolling while howling with laughter off-camera before finally calling cut. Seeing Tom Cruise balance inches above the floor with coins stuffed in his shoes is pure gold. #tomcruise #missionimpossible #briandepalma #stunts #behindthescenes #funny #viral #funnymoments #shorts #comedy #interview #latenight #celebritystories
