'Trump Zero, Iran 55': Tehran Destroys Costly MQ-9 Reaper Drone as US Bombs Qeshm Island | Vantage Nov 05, 2026

Description

America’s MQ-9 Reaper drones are facing growing losses over Iran, with Tehran claiming to have brought down its 55th aircraft. In this video, Firstpost examines why these expensive drones, designed for long-endurance surveillance and precision strikes, are proving vulnerable to Iranian air defences and electronic warfare. Each Reaper costs up to $50 million and can carry Hellfire missiles, but it has no dedicated defence against incoming missiles or fighter aircraft. The video also explores the wider cost of America’s aircraft losses, the strategic importance of Iran’s Qeshm Island near the Strait of Hormuz, and the latest military exchanges between Washington and Tehran. As both sides continue to explore a possible agreement, the question is whether diplomacy can prevent another escalation. Hem Saroya tells you more.
